How it works

1. Let’s Chat

Tell us as much as you can about your artwork. What is it you would like written, how many words, is there a specific paper or ink colour you prefer? From there we can start discussing calligraphy styles and the best paper size for your artwork. With this information we can provide you with an accurate quote for your project.

2. Writing begins

Once your order has been paid, we will begin working on your project. We will create a draft in pencil based on your specifications and send it to you for review. Please take the time to review the spelling and grammar in your passage before sending, as we will write exactly what is given.

3. Final artwork.

Upon approval of your pencil draft, we will begin writing your final artwork in ink. Once complete we will send you pictures for approval, then package and ship your finished artwork.

Custom Artwork FAQs

How long will it take to create my artwork?

Our typical turnaround time for a custom calligraphy piece is approximately 2 to 3 weeks. If you have a specific deadline in mind, we recommend ordering as early as possible to ensure we can complete your project on time. In the event that you need your artwork sooner, we may be able to accommodate rush orders at an additional cost.

What paper size is best for my artwork?

The ideal paper size for your artwork will be influenced by several factors, including the length of the text and how you plan to display it. For example, songs and poems may require a larger size of paper compared to quotes and passages. We have provided an estimate of how many words can fit on a page, however, each piece of calligraphy is unique and it would be best to get in touch to determine the perfect size for your artwork.

A3: 200 - 400 words

A2: 400 - 600 words

What surfaces can you write on?

We have experience writing on a variety of surfaces. While paper remains the most popular, we are also able to write on a range of materials such as parchment, fabric, glass, metal and ceramics. Each of these surfaces requires a slightly different approach, so if you have something specific in mind, please get in touch to see how we can bring your vision to life.

Do you use archival quality materials?

We are dedicated to creating calligraphy artworks that are both beautiful and meaningful. To ensure the longevity of your artwork we only use archival quality materials. We use acid-free paper and our inks are lightfast, meaning your artwork won’t yellow or deteriorate over time. This guarantees that your piece of art will maintain its beauty and remain as vibrant as the day it was created, providing you with a timeless work of art to display in your home for years to come.
